By shifting trips from cars to shared transit, the City of Evansville can reduce tailpipe CO₂ output, alleviate traffic congestion, and improve air quality. Enhancing service reliability and rider experience makes public transit a more attractive alternative for daily commuters and occasional riders alike.
METS has made two major improvements to our public transit over the last two years. This includes a METS Micro expansion into Jacobsville and the introduction of the METS Micro MyRide app. METS Micro is an on-demand pilot launched in November 2023, offers app-based trips at standard bus-fare rates and a flexible transit service.
METS also regularly offers discounts to help lower the cost of rides and encourage ridership. In the last two years, there have been a total of 5 free ride days.
Follow The City of Evansville's Facebook page to get notices about these shared ride opportunities.

Improves air quality
Policies, practices, and programs that limit fossil fuel combustion reduce the emission of harmful air pollutants, such as particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, and sulfur dioxides. Adopting more sustainable actions enhances our air quality, resulting in improved health and a higher quality of life for everyone.

Improves mobility
Investing in a network of public, shared, and active transportation options provides more affordable and accessible mobility options for all residents to reach essential amenities and services. Clean transportation options will reduce traffic volume and congestion, travel time, costs, and air pollution, leading to easier and healthier travel through the city.

Enhances equity
Equitable and affordable access to technologies and programs helps residents save money, reach essential services, and cope with climate impacts. Equitable access ensures even the most vulnerable and underserved have the opportunity to be safe, healthy, and resilient to climate impacts.
