Residents need clear, accessible information about climate-related risks, such as heat waves, ozone alerts, and severe storms, to protect their health and adjust daily activities. Well-informed communities are better prepared to respond, recover, and build resilience. Evansville is a proud Storm Ready city! This means we can send 24-hour alerts through various means. The City of Evansville, in partnership with public and private organizations, works to increase awareness of air quality and climate impacts. The Evansville Climate Collaborative supports this effort through its website, social media, newsletters, interactive dashboard, and direct community engagement at local events.
By strengthening public understanding of how climate extremes and air pollution affect health and infrastructure, Evansville can improve overall resilience. Informed residents are more likely to take protective actions, such as limiting outdoor activity on high-ozone days, managing stormwater at home, and planting trees, and to support broader strategies that reduce emissions and enhance community-wide adaptability.
