The Evansville Resiliency Assessment, developed alongside the 2025 CAP, evaluates the City’s climate risks, impacts, and vulnerabilities. It highlights key threats, such as rising temperatures, stronger storms, and neighborhood flooding, and identifies the populations and areas most at risk. By combining climate and socioeconomic data, the assessment provides a clear, equity-focused framework for strengthening community resilience.
The city already limits development in high-risk flood areas and works to expand tree canopy in heat-prone neighborhoods. We are currently working on a Resilience Hub Feasibility study to support the creation of a community center that has solar-plus-storage for power outages. In partnership with nonprofits and private stakeholders, these hubs can deliver critical support where it is needed most, strengthening both equity and overall community resilience. Enhances equity
Equitable and affordable access to technologies and programs helps residents save money, reach essential services, and cope with climate impacts. Equitable access ensures even the most vulnerable and underserved have the opportunity to be safe, healthy, and resilient to climate impacts.

Increases local resilience
Programs, policies, and practices that improve local energy reliability, infrastructure integrity, food supply, water quality, waste management, and other essential needs will improve our local energy, economic, environmental, and community resilience to climate impacts, particularly for underserved populations and neighborhoods most vulnerable to those impacts.
Improves quality of life/place
Incorporating greenspace and green infrastructure in community design contributes to cleaner air and water, cooler temperatures, restorative recreational and social spaces, and a more attractive and livable community. Increasing public awareness about programs and services that will better prepare residents to cope with climate impacts will improve community resiliency and quality of life.
