Evansville Resiliency Assessment (2024)

A resiliency assessment is an analytical report used by local governments to evaluate a community’s vulnerability to climate-related hazards and other disruptions, while identifying strategies to strengthen the community’s ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from these impacts. The City of Evansville initiated this assessment to better understand local risks and identify opportunities to improve long-term resilience for residents, infrastructure, and natural systems.

The assessment examines how climate change and extreme weather events, such as flooding, heat waves, and severe storms, may affect the City’s infrastructure, environment, and population. It evaluates existing vulnerabilities and identifies actions that can help reduce risk and enhance the City’s ability to adapt to changing conditions.

This resiliency assessment will provide the City with data-driven insights and recommendations to help guide future planning, infrastructure investment, and policy decisions. The findings will support Evansville’s efforts to build a safer, more adaptive, and resilient community in the face of evolving environmental challenges.
